When your heavily promoted new reality series loses nearly half of its lead-in, that's never a good thing. When that lead-in is a screening of "Dude, Where's My Car?" it's even worse. Facing steep premiere competition from MTV's "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" and Comedy Central's "Chappelle's Show," FX's "Todd TV" had a disappointing start on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Only 803,000 viewers tuned in to "Todd TV," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, which allows viewers to influence the life of a regular slow, has been regularly advertised on both FX and FOX. In addition to losing viewers from Ashton Kutcher's stoner classic, "Todd TV" was also pummeled by a repeat of "Monk" on USA, which earned 2.1 million viewers.

The night's most successful launch came from "Newlyweds," which drew 4.7 million viewers. The reality-comedy was the 10 p.m. ET time period's most watched show among adults 12-34 for both cable and broadcast networks. The show's second season premiere helped "'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave" begin its limited run with 3.3 million viewers.

Over on Comedy Central, the second season of "Chappelle's Show" started at 10:30 p.m. with nearly 3 million viewers, building on its "South Park" lead-in by 36 percent.
